A little help, when you need it

Help with Isotropitch, the iPhone tuner for guitar, bass and ukulele.

Start with one string.

1. Choose Guitar, Bass or Ukulele and select your tuning.
2. Tap Start tuning or the microphone button. Allow microphone access when asked.
3. Keep your iPhone near the instrument, pluck one open string and let it ring.
4. Follow Tune up or Tune down. A checkmark confirms a stable reading within three cents.
5. Tap a string to hold its target, or tap Auto to follow each string automatically.

No reading?

Make sure tuning has started and that Isotropitch has microphone access in your iPhone’s Settings. Move closer to the instrument, reduce background noise and let one string ring at a time. If audio was interrupted by a call or another app, return to Isotropitch and start tuning again.

Does the note jump?

Mute the other strings and pluck gently. Select the correct instrument and tuning, then tap the string you want to tune to hold that target. If you see “Check the octave”, check that you are playing the selected open string.

Reference pitch and appearance.

Open Settings in the app to set concert pitch between A4 = 430 and 450 Hz, enable confirmation haptics, or choose Light, Dark or System appearance. The layout changes automatically as you turn your iPhone. On iPhone Duo, fold-specific layouts require iOS 27.1 or later.

Your audio stays with you.

Isotropitch processes live audio on your iPhone. It does not record, save or upload audio, and tuning works offline. The microphone stays off until you start and capture stops when the app enters the background. Read the privacy policy for details.
